After our Governance conference in 2003, APPC decided to launch a Financial Accounting Standards project that surveyed accounting issues and practices in seven countries – Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines and Thailand – with the aim of developing a more responsible non-profit sector in the region. This project produced a comprehensive Accounting Guide for Nonprofits, which we published in April 2006. It has since been used in several workshops for NPO practitioners within and outside the region.
An Issues Paper, which outlines and poses recommendations to existing issues in nonprofit accounting in the participating societies, is also available.
