APPC's fourth regional conference, "Diaspora Giving: An Agent of Change in Asia Pacific Communities?" held last 21 to 23 May 2008 in Hanoi, Vietnam, was attended by some 120 representatives from government, diaspora communities, receiving communities, NGO facilitators and diaspora philanthropy advocates from Asia and beyond.

Prior to the conference, APPC commissioned an Overview Paper on Diaspora Philanthropy as well as 7 papers on the following countries: Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines and Vietnam.
