There is a high awareness of cash and goods donations existing amongst most respondents, while awareness of volunteerism and donation via a portion of profits is significantly lower. Consequently, participation in cash and goods donations in the past 12 months was notably higher. Respondents on average gave about 1.8% of their monthly household income to individuals, and about 2.2% to organizations. It can be deduced here that people who give to organizations donate a higher amount than merely giving to individuals. Across segments, males, upper social classes, middle-aged, and rural respondents tend to donate larger proportions to organizations. Family tradition, compassion, and religious belief rank amongst primary motivators for philanthropic participation. Across segments, rural respondents tend to be motivated by family tradition, moral & social responsibilities, and wanting to feel good. Female respondents are more likely to be motivated by compassion and the need to give merit. APPC will be releasing the survey results soon in its website.
